Structure
A structure is a collection of things together with the relations that hold among them. This course builds structures and studies what is true in them.
Logic supplies the language and the proof rules. Here the interest lies on the other side: what a sentence speaks about. A statement is judged against a universe of elements laid out in some shape, and a construction earns its name once such a universe exists.
Arithmetic opens the course. Its universe is a line of elements, and the zero, the successor, addition, multiplication and exponentiation are all read off that single layout.
Graphs, transition systems, Moore and Mealy machines, algebraic structures and the usual data structures are planned to follow.
